Tips By Maria: Mastering the Art of an Italian Summer Themed Al Fresco Entertainment

Creating an ambiance reminiscent of long Italian summer days at home has a certain magic to it. Here are five tips I've found invaluable for bringing the lux Lake Como summer vibe to your outdoor gatherings:

1. Natural Elements

Add touches of greenery, olive branches, or fresh flowers in simple vases to evoke the rustic charm of the Italian countryside.

2. Mediterranean Color Palette

Use a color scheme inspired by the Mediterranean—think shades of blue, white, and terracotta. Mix and match plates, ceramic dishes, and elegant glassware to add depth to the table.

3. Al Fresco Lighting

String up fairy lights or hang lanterns to create a warm, inviting glow as the sun sets. Candles in vintage candleholders or hurricane lamps can also add a romantic touch to the evening.

4. Centerpiece:

Create a focal point with a stunning centerpiece. Options include a floral arrangement with seasonal blooms, a collection of potted plants or herbs, or a grouping of candles in varying heights.

5. Fresh, Seasonal Food and Drink

Center your menu around fresh, seasonal ingredients. Serve antipasti platters with cured meats, cheeses, olives, and bread. Offer refreshing drinks like Aperol Spritz or Prosecco, and finish with a classic Italian dessert like tiramisu or gelato.

Entertaining outdoors is one of life's simple pleasure. These tips will help you create an enchanting Italian summer atmosphere that delights your guests and transports them to the shores of Lake Como and leaves a lasting impression. Here's to many enchanting evenings under the stars!
